Visa

For details on visa requirements for visiting Karimun, please see the Indonesia page. Karimun's Tanjung Balai port is designated as a visa-free and visa-on-arrival entry point.
Karimun does not have an operational airport, so travellers' only option is to get in by boat. Karimun has good ferry connections with Singapore and Kukup in the southwestern tip of JohorMalaysia as well as the other Riau Islands and the Sumatra "mainland".

Karimun ( Tg. Balai )

Karimun  is a small island offerring a range of tourist activities in the Riau Islandsprovince of Indonesia. It is also the name of a group of islands and regency (kabupaten) to which it belongs.
Karmun is located just off the east coast of Sumatra, guarding the southern entrance of the busy Straits of Malacca. It lies west of Batam and to the southwest of Singapore and is the furthest west of the Riau Islands.
Its proximity to Singapore has made the islands quite affluent and busy. Its main town,Tanjung Balai is a bustling port town with a lot of commerce, boosted by tourists from Singapore and Malaysia, however, it must not be confused with Tanjung Balai in North Sumatra province, a much larger city also known as Tanjung Balai Asahan and an international port. However, like Batam and Bintan, Karimun is also listed as a Free Trade Zone area.

Meaning of Tanjung Balai Karimun

Tanjung Balai ; Tanjung Buru trip

Hi, nice to see you all again...

i actually love Indonesia a lot. especially Tanjung Balai Karimun and Tanjung Buru Karimun...Both can be consider as my hometown or birth place. :)

My sisters , Brothers and Uncle lives there and work there... Thus, whenever it reach holiday, i will went back to visit them... They will always come 2 the Harbour to fetch me.. :) They are all very caring..

I normally took a ferry ( Indo-Falcon ) from Harbourfront , Singapore Cruise Center to Tanjung Balai Karimun.. This Ferry will last for one hour and the half to two hours in the sea then reach the shore of Tanjung Balai Karimun. Finally, we reach the State Of Indonesia.. But that is still not the end.. We had to still take a " speedboat " to reach Tanjung Buru Karimun...

Finally , we reach Tanjung Buru Karimun... And most likely, we would stay there for like 4 days to 1 week. It is quite fun there... But the only bad thing is that, there is a lot of MOSQUITES!! haha..
And then, when we went back to Singapore, we take this same transport back!  The trip is Indeed awesome and Cool!!!

                                                                          The End.
